what advise can you gvie about burning 91 0ctane with 10% ethanol here in the united states and if you should use any fuel additives for improving fuel quality and what brand of gas is best to buy.
Obviously buy the highest octane you can, the local Sunoco sells 93 but all gas in Pennsylvania must have ethanol. I check it regularly at less than 10%. I have been advised to use SeaFoam as an additive. This helps with the moisture that ethanol can hold.
a certified rotax mechanic in columus nebraska advised using sea foam with excellant results. he said to add it right before oil change and would do no harm to engine or performance. i did e mail lockwood avaition in florida and they did not recommend it though. how do you ck the etyhanol level? you do that after filling the fuel tanks? or can you test it at the gas station before you pour the fuel?
I take two 5 gallon containers to the Sunoco station, fill them with premium and head out to the airport. Before putting in the tank I use this tester. I also check for ethanol about every week or so when I sump the tanks. (So far, 8% has been my max, usually 6%.)
can removing ethanol from the gas with sea foam effect the octane rating and lower it? ethanol does remove water too so its not all bad. or am i all wet?
