Czech Sport Aircraft

Welcome Czech Sport Aircraft Owners, Flyers and Builders!

The Dynon EMS system suddenly went from green to red and alerted me to an overspeed condition at 4000 RPM. I landed as soon a practicable and found all other conditions normal. Decided to continue my trip and RPM went from green to red to green to red over the 3 hour trip. No other noticeable changes.

Any thoughts?

Dave,

If you decend quickly and/or the ambient air temp is low, your oil temp may drop below 122 degrees F and if it does, you will get a warning of high RPM over 2500 RPM.  This happened to me when ATC had me lose altitude rapidly when it was already on the edge if I needed the oil cooler cover.  I was suprised by the high RPM warning myself.

I have installed the cold weather baffles and have not seen the problem again.

Dave,

I am not sure when it would be appropriate to install the coolant cover.  It seems that with a thermostat in the coolant system, it would only be needed in extreme cold conditions.
