Czech Sport Aircraft

Welcome Czech Sport Aircraft Owners, Flyers and Builders!

Hi, Anybody has in flight variable pitch prop installed on your sportcruiser. I have heard different opinions and want to change for Woodcomp 3R variable electrical prop as suggested by CZAW. I know that last year they installed it on few new sportcruisers. I remember an article from Pilot journal in UK when somebody was unhappy with variable pitch prop and changed it back to classical 3R woodcomp.

Hi Jerzy,

The CS / VP Prop will give you a little better speed and fuel economy, and a slightly shorter (it is already good) takeoff run... In the UK maybe 10-20% of our SportCruiser aircraft are coming with CS / VP props.

If you fly a lot, and long distances, then the Woodcomp SR3000 will pay for itself in fuel savings over the 6 year / 1500 hour TBO.

However, you can ground adjust your current prop (Woodcomp Klassic), which often does most people fine.

The CS / VP prop is a fine toy to have though!

The only negative words about this prop are historic - there were some props a year or two ago which had weak gearboxes - these were efficiently swapped out, so now worries now (this is what was written about in the UK).

Hope this helps

Ben
Thanks Ben,

Do you know any dealer or website for CS/VP so I can talk to a person. I know a delaer of woodcomp sr3000 in spain.

I fly a lot in the mountains. We usually take off at over 3000 feet and than we fly also to airports on the beach. I tried few times to adjust between summer and winter my current woodcomp but i think it is not good enough. Airfields we operate are usually short so I think I need VP.Prop.

All the best,

Jurek
Well, I know the UK dealer very well for the Woodcomp props, and he could swap your prop in around one day with VP / CS controller as you like. From best knowledge, typically 17 to 18 Degrees on your current prop is about right if you're not already at that you may like to try.

The factory could also swap the prop. I know Leo well from Portugal - though I'm not sure if he is a Woodcomp dealer...

With our fixed pitch prop a 200-300M runway is comfortable, but if less than this, then a CS prop would be good.

Regards
Ben

Hi Ben,

Only to let you know that after a long time i have changed to VP/CS prop Woodcomp SR3000/2W. It is fantastic toy and plane performance is greatly improved. You have easly 120 kts cruising speed at 4800 rpm and 25 MAP. I should have done it long time before and strongly recommend it to everybody.

Regards,

Jerzy
